Seeking the Faith of a Child
By Amanda Knapp
I remember being in Catholic school as a child and hearing constantly about how everyone is supposed to strive for the faith of a child. It made me feel special at the time. I was child, and something in me was so magnificent that even grown ups strived for it. I always liked hearing those things. About how Jesus would call the children to Him, how children were special to Him.

You Want Me to Do What?
By Elizabeth Thomas
Look Lord, my life is already too much to handle, you know I am crying for no reason out of the blue it seems--and You want me to write a book!! "Well, for just those reasons, write a book!"

Mortification
By Dan Goddu
The passage from My Meditation on the Gospel (The Confraternity of the Precious Blood, http://confraternitypb.org) that I read this morning was about Mark 14:37-42. When I read the line "Could you not keep watch for one hour?" I wondered about the significance of "one hour." Why one hour? Why not more or why not less?

Should Your Candle Get Extinguished Keep Following His Light
By Tara K. E. Brelinsky
Passing through the narthex doors, the balance of my kids' excitement meter tipped far right as they spied the ushers with those thin, white, paper-circle sheathed candles in hand.

The Most Important Thing
By Lisa Ponchak
Recently I had a conversation with a dear friend of mine. She is a Protestant and she has been burned by most of the churches she has been involved with. She and her husband have encountered numerous people in the Church that have been anything but loving; people that have been caught up in a power trip and their own agendas.

Are Good Works Automatic?
By Kevin Noles
While Catholics and some non-Christians acknowledge that faith and works are necessary for salvation, some non-Catholics then believe that good works are automatic. In other words, someone with faith will in turn do good works.

AH, the Value of a Letter!
By Elizabeth Thomas
Ah, the value of a letter! No, not the A to Z alphabet letters—even though they are extremely valuable too! For without them there would be the letter. That HANDWRITTEN, folded and sealed in an addressed, stamped envelope—and delivered to your door---left in your mailbox letter. Ah the value of that letter.

No Compromise on Abortion
By Patti J. Mitchell
As Catholics we believe in the sanctity of life - from conception to natural death, right? For the most part it is, but not always. I cannot count the times I’ve spoken to parishioners that say, “I might not agree with abortion, but I support a woman’s right to choose,” or “I think abortion is wrong, except in certain cases, such as rape.”

Post Lent
By Catherine Garrett
As Holy Week progresses I find myself wondering how I will continue to grow in my relationship with Christ. I keep thinking of all the things I had wanted to do during Lent and how many of those things didn't happen on a regular basis. I did read my Bible, but not every night. I did say a rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet, but not every day.

You, to the First Power
By Charlotte Ostermann
It can be a bit of a let-down to move from the glory of Christ to the Third Power, to raggedy little me, just barely back from the grave. But, such is life in Christ. Let’s just be glad he made us “alive when [we] were dead in sin.” (Eph. 2:1) It’s creepy to think that, without formally signing up for Satan’s corps, we were following him… “children of wrath.”

Is Your Phone Ringing?
By Michelle Watkins
I don’t know about you but I can get easily distracted during prayer. I can pray the rosary devotedly only to find my mind starting to drift away. One moment I’m focused on the prayers and the specific mystery. The next moment, I’m thinking about that load of laundry I need to do, a work deadline or a household chore.

Maccabees Mama
By Mary Ann Gambill
Sick kids make people squirm. It's just a basic truth. We don't want to think about children in pain or dying or being alone or scared. It goes against nature. Those commercials that show starving children are very effective for a reason. Please, sponsor this child for 2 cents a day and we don't ever have to feel guilty or think about this atrocity again as we sip your $4 coffee.

"What Will You Regret on Your Deathbed?"
By Andrea Thomas
I recently read an article written by a palliative nurse who cared for the dying for many years. During their last days, she would often ask her patients if they had any regrets in life that they would do differently if they had the chance. There were five common themes she found, but the number one regret she found across the board was this: They wished they had lived with more courage.

Women At Prayer
By Ebeth Weidner
One day several years ago, after listening to my husband complain yet again about his job, I began an innocent and unobtrusive prayer campaign for his fulfillment as the breadwinner of the family. The Irish Catholic that I am, I wrote on a note card, "Dear Jesus, please help Doug find fulfillment in his career." and stuck it in my Bible.

Conflicting Voices: Why Parents Choose Not to Bring Their Children to Mass
By Melanie R. Cameron
This great, yet heartbreaking article struck a chord... Parents not taking their kids to Mass? I'm being honest here, I know a few. Not pointing fingers! In fact, I'm the first to stand up and say, please, Lord, please, give us some consistent voices.

A Quick Reflection on St. Joseph and Family Life
By Tommy Raines
The Holy Family has always been a source of inspiration to me. St. Joseph is my guide and role model. I am in constant awe of my blessings, especially my family. Like most families, we seem to get caught up in the routines of life work schedules, school activities, homework, baths, prayers and bedtime, day in and day out.
