What Christ Gave Us

As Holy Week progressed I found myself wondering how I would continue to grow in my relationship with Christ. I kept thinking of all the things I had wanted to do during Lent and how many of those things didn't happen on a regular basis. I did read my Bible, but not every night. I did say a rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet, but not every day. I did volunteer with our youth to practice the Gospel reenactment they would be doing on Good Friday, so that was added. I was able to stay away from sweets - which is extra hard with toddlers!! But how do we gauge growth in our relationships?
Our relationship with God can feel so one sided until we look around us. My family, friends, home and countless other blessings surround me on a daily basis. God has brought me through hard times and drawn me closer through them. How do we continue to grow closer to God through good times? It's through Communication, which means prayer. We're called to take everything we started this Lent and keep it going. Lent is not a time that we do more or give up more simply because it is Lent. Lent is a time we grow in our Faith. It gives us a time of preparation before Easter and the joyful celebration of Christ's rising. But before the joy there is sadness and darkness. Without the strength that Lent gives us, we don't make it to Easter from Good Friday!
Take an inventory. Where did you grow this Lent? Where do you want to grow by Christmas?
May you and your family have a very blessed Easter season!!
