The Holy Family has always been a source of inspiration to me. St. Joseph is my guide and role model. I am in constant awe of my blessings, especially my family. Like most families, we seem to get caught up in the routines of life work schedules, school activities, homework, baths, prayers and bedtime, day in and day out. Our lives can look like a roller coaster of ups, downs, fast turns; sometimes “juggling” the responsibilities of family, work and life can seem daunting. However, I can assure you that if God can lead us to it, He can lead us through it.
Like St. Joseph, I became a husband and father at a relative older age. I met my wife through SaintRaphael.net (now known as CatholicMatch.com.) We were 500 miles away from each other, but we knew God put us together. Think about it. Millions of people in the world and God brings people into your path. Some are guides, teachers, good examples, role models, bad examples, friends or that very special person to share our beautiful Sacrament of Marriage with.
A few years into our marriage, God decided to place a beautiful girl into our lives. Our daughter has been our best blessing. Hearing her say her prayers, sing hymns and genuflect are some of the little things which give me and my wife, our greatest joy. I look in my daughter’s eyes and I can see forever. I see joy, comfort and most of all, the love of Jesus radiating out. Our daughter will tell us “I have Jesus in my heart.” I know this is true and I can only wonder how St. Joseph felt as he fulfilled his fatherly duties to the child Jesus, along with his love, obedience and loyalty to Mary and God comforted Joseph and gave him strength. What an example this is for us. The hardships we face, however difficult, were not as difficult as St. Joseph dealt with in his life and service to our Lord and Savior. Let us look to him as our example. Let’s all love one another as Christ loves us. May God Bless You. Holy Family, Pray for Us!
