Not Just One Day!
By Tom Collins
Catholic Church pews sit empty. Confessionals are deserted. Young Catholics are leaving the church trying to “find themselves” in other religions. Parish ministries are begging for volunteers. Catholicism and practicing Catholics are mocked freely in society. Vocations are not meeting the demand caused by retiring priests.

Praying with the Bones of St. Charbel
By AnneMarie Miller
I stepped up the center aisle of the small church and moved towards the sanctuary. Candlelight danced off of a wooden box that stood in front of the altar. I stood before this box, transfixed. In this small reliquary lay fragments of the bones of St. Charbel, a 19th century Maronite Catholic. He spent over twenty years living as a hermit in Lebanon, where he was widely revered for his holiness.

Christian Unity? Yes! …But in the meantime…Let's not denigrate the edifying, God-glorifying witness of committed Protestants
By Bobbie Ann Taylor
For a number of months, following some shared blogging among Christian women of different faiths on the topic of “Denominational Diversity,” given its complex and controversial nature, I have been wondering how I might—and whether I even should--give voice on Catholic365 to what I am about to share in this article.

Universal Invitation (to Salvation)
By Helen Losse
Our too-fast, noisy world gives so much input that sometimes we forget God loves us with no qualifiers.

This article is the second of a two part testimony on the importance of humility for a relationship with Jesus Christ in light of recent events in my own life.

The Most Important Story You'll Ever Tell
By Sterling Jaquith
As goals are being set for 2016, there is one that I think everyone should add this year and that is to tell their conversion story to at least one person. Now you may be thinking, “I’ve always been Catholic so I don’t have a conversion story.” But there is a moment in everyone’s life where they stop choosing their parent’s religion and they choose it for themselves – that is a conversion.

Mary's Faith in Me
By Joseph J Marotta, MD
Over the years as a physician, there have been times when a relationship with a patient has overwhelmed me emotionally. Doctors, especially surgeons are known for our ability to separate ourselves from the cruel realities of modern medicine. Yet, as a person of some empathy, I find it difficult to completely remove my compassionate side from the equation.

Rejoice -- or Bah, Humbug
By Richard Maffeo
As I prepared this week to preach a message on “Rejoice – or Bah, Humbug” at the senior center this Sunday, I got to thinking (a bit guiltily) how ‘unjoyful’ and grumpy I usually am. I’ve lived much of my adult life with my glass perennially half empty. So the accusation settled on my shoulder challenging me: Who are you to tell others how to rejoice in Christ?

Analysis of a conversion: Three Tsunamis of Grace
By De Maria
Before I begin, I want to remind Catholics that the Doctrine of Grace alone is a false doctrine which Protestants invented in order to deny the authority of the Church, the authority of Priests, the efficacy of the Sacraments and the necessity of good works.

Gifts
By Mariel Roersma
Everyone has gifts given by God. What is your gift? Is it prayer? Is it words? Is it art? How are you using those gifts to better the world? Are you even aware of what gifts God has given you? I realize that for some, it may take a lifetime to find out what their gifts are.

Viewer Discretion Advised
By Michelle Watkins
In our local paper today there is a list of all the new series to begin airing in January and the months ahead. Instantly several warrant our attention. From religious-based web sources and my own understanding I'd like to call your attention to these NON-family-friendly and NON-soul-friendly viewing options

With Jesus at the Jordan
By Mary Rivers
From the sidelines we have watched the engagement and recent marriage of a young couple in our parish. They stood apart from others as a couple not only truly in love with each other, but also with the Lord. Converted to the faith, their zeal for their faith was evident by their actions: caring for others, growing in knowledge of the Lord, and joyfully sharing their faith with all.

Why Is It Important For Catholics To Know Our Faith And Stand Up In Public For What We Believe?
By Ralph Zuranski
For too long Catholics have rejected their responsibillity to live their faith and explain how it differs from the social progressive and liberal democratic perspectives promoted by the media.

What are your favorite prayers?
By Pam Spano
What are your favorite prayers? I have quite a few. I would have to say that my favorite one is "Morning prayer before starting work" that is on the Laudate App. I pray it every morning in the breakroom (or bathroom!) at work.

The Jewish things we do in the Catholic Church
By De Maria
This is an “ablution”. In the Old Testament, Jewish Priests, the Levites, before they would enter the Temple of God, would wash themselves to purify of any uncleanness. Of course, we recognize this as the Sign of the Cross which we perform upon entering the Church.

A Yizkor Meditation in Memory of a Parent Who Hurt
By Pam Spano
My mother and I never got along. Up until the day she died, we had a contentious relationship. Though I have moved beyond some of the many hurts she inflicted on me, I find that sometimes I still feel the uprisings from within of an old wound.

Silent Retreat - For Me, Really???
By Karen Cubberly
My sentiments exactly when my spiritual director suggested that I attend one. I asked him outright, “Are you kidding?” I thought he was either joking or making it my penance. But he assured me that it was not my penance (I am quite a social person so being silent for any amount of time besides sleeping is not easy).
