A Moving Story. An Open Letter to Iowans. (Why Marco Rubio)
By Greg Schlueter
My grandparents and parents hail from Dubuque in the wonderful state of Iowa. They have ingrained in us the hardworking, faith, family, and self-less values that have made us the "difference makers" we are-- values that find their roots in Iowa.

St. Mun's the Word
By Christy Breedlove
St. Mun. With a name like that, you’d expect there would be nothing about him. And you’d be right. St. Mun lived in Ireland in the 5th century and his uncle was St. Patrick. His feast day is February 5. That’s it. The whole shebang on Mun summed up in two sentences.

I agree with you, Bobbie
By De Maria
I agree with you, Bobbie. There’s no magic to the word, Catholic. If any Catholic thinks they can do whatever they want and still be saved, they have another thing coming.

Don't Roll in Dead Stuff!!!
By Elizabeth Thomas
At the most unexpected times and in the most ordinary ways---God can speak to us if we have spiritual ears to hear. I was talking on the cell phone to a troubled friend, who had called seeking help as they were struggling with their faith.

The God of Another Chance
By Richard Maffeo
If anyone had reason to count himself unforgivable, unredeemable, and useless to God’s community, it was the apostle Peter.

Do the Work
By Chris Harvey
When I get the chance to talk about my faith, I often start by disclosing that I am a "recovering Pelagian." This serves two purposes: 1. It lets me show off that I have some theological credentials (though it doesn't do much for my humility.) 2. It gives the a launching pad for demonstrating that I am a conflicted and contrary stew of American independence trying to embrace the Christ's gift

Is our God Humble?
By Lorrie McNickle
Over the past few years as I have taken steps to deepen my knowledge and understanding of our Faith, one thing has really stood out. It is the idea of humility. It seems to me that without humility, our Faith is unreachable, and God becomes much more distant and difficult to access.

Everyone needs a Mary
By Kate Eschbach
I do wish everyone had a mother as loving and selfless as I do. When Brian and the bigs were in Rome, mom stayed with me to help with Mary Alice and Riley. She could have gone on the trip with my dad and brother, but she stayed. She helped me keep my sanity and made sure we took adventures. We ate lunch at girly places and found a Harry&David with clearance dark chocolate covered popcorn.

Pope Saint Pontian
By Debra Booton McCoy
The Liber Pontificalis is a book of information on the early popes, written in the fourth century. It is not always perfectly accurate and, as archeology reveals more information, new books are published with updated details. I try to get the newest data for these blogs.

Filipino Reflections on Restoring the Sacred in Advent
By Rexcrisanto Delson
For most Catholics, Christmas season has ended, but there are many who keep the traditional Christmastide season alive until the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary on February 2nd. Such observances of the liturgical calendar are shared by Catholics who observe the extraordinary calendar and prefer to pray the Extraordinary Form Mass, also known as the Tridentine Latin Mass.

What 99% of Catholics Don't Know about the Mass
By Rev. John H. Hampsch, C.M.F
There are two blocks of fascinating information that very, very few Catholics are aware of. The first is some seldom explained theological information regarding the benefits of Masses offered for deceased persons. The second block of information includes some rarely explained benefits that the living can obtain for themselves by devout attendance at Mass.

Miracles From Heaven
By Mariel Roersma
When you take a look at faith through the eyes of a child, it’s so different than an adult’s. It’s innocent. They believe what they see in books, what they hear from others, and what they learn. They see Jesus as a man dressed in white with a long brown beard. They know heaven as a place in the sky where you go when you die. They believe that Jesus and God are one in the same.

Getting Personal: On Money and Mission
By Greg Schlueter
I know speaking of money matters is generally taboo. Private and sensitive. Nonetheless, I'm moved to share this as encouragement to many of you whom I know are beleaguered by the weight of money matters. Who perhaps lie awake, haunted by crippling fear. Who do not feel like you're able to do what you're most meant to do.
