Someone I Love Was Never Born
By Robert Louis Rodriguez
I won’t get to post pictures, she won’t be showered with gifts. I’ll find solace in the memory that she once did exist. I heard her heartbeat and she now lives in mine, will never forget that sound that began to change my life.

As Catholics, we are blessed to share a rich and vibrant prayer heritage that has accumulated over literally thousands of years. One staple of our Catholic tradition is a treasured collection of prayers that most of us were taught from a very young age – the Rosary.

Pope St. Sylvester, Builder Of The Temporal Church
By Debra Booton McCoy
The thirty-third bishop of Rome, Sylvester was consecrated January 31, 314 and was buried December 31, 335, having completed nearly 22 years as head of the Church at Rome. A native Roman, Sylvester's parents were Rufinus and Justa. Legend has it that he was ordained by Pope Marcellinus before the Diocletian persecutions began. Later, he was attached to the papal court of Militiades.

Election Novena 2016
By De Maria
If you're anything like me, you're probably asking yourself, "how could this happen in America?" Yep, folks, I can't bear to choose between Hillary or Trump. I don't want either one of those to be Commander in Chief of our country.

Passing on Our Faith
By Catherine Garrett
Being a lifelong Catholic, I've gotten to experience a lot of things in my faith. I got to be one of the first girl altar servers at my parish. I've sung in the choir and folk group since I could open my mouth. I helped to teach younger kids in Sunday school when I was younger. I was able to take my faith with me to college.

The Delicate Balance of Idleness and Work
By Dr. Lin Weeks Wilder
Idleness is the enemy of the soul. When I first read that opening sentence of Chapter 48 of the Rule of Benedict, I recognized my paraphrased internal maxim created long ago: Boredom is a cancer of the soul. As a Benedictine oblate, I read through the Rule three times per year. One would think that those fifteen- hundred- year-old words would become tedious.

An Integration of Church and State
By Adam Crawford
I don't often post political pieces. In fact, this may be a first. But as I sit at my desk writing this, I find myself deeply troubled by our current state of affairs. In our nation, the term, separation of Church and state, has been aggressively employed in an effort to remove any influence of religion or faith from the public sphere.

Serving Like Him

Some people serve, and some people serve like Christ. Yesterday I was more than inspired by one particular person who serves like Christ.

God's Glorious Gift of Grace
By Kathy Lamb
On the bulletin board in the old school building at church, I saw a poster on which these words were written “Year of Grace 2014.” It made me start to think about Grace, how good it is that God gives us Grace and how much God loves us. I thought about how extremely important Grace is to us, so I decided to talk to you about the holy gift of Grace.

A Near-Hit In Another Sense Of The Word--WYD And Sacrifice
By Rose Cuervo
in 1995, the World Youth Day took place in Manila Philippines. At that time, the closing Mass was the largest crowd ever assembled--5M people--which was bested only in the same location last year when Pope Francis visited--at 6M people. But many people do not know that it could have been a major tragedy instead of a great celebration.

A Movement of Mercy
By Deacon Mike Knuth
Since Vatican II, we have seen an emphasis of looking at Liturgy as a work of the People of God. There is some truth to this, but when the emphasis is placed on the work of the people, it eschews our seeing the primary work of Liturgy as God’s work, and the people’s work as a participation in the work of God.

Ashley Judd, Trump, and a Personal Take
By Birgit Jones
Ashley Judd, a popular actress, spoke to the DNC praising those who worked to keep abortion on demand legal. As a victim of sexual assault, she went on to say, “If abortion had not been safe and legal at that time, I would have been forced to carry to term and deliver a child that was conceived in rape”.

How Easy It Is To Give In To Anger
By Anthony Stine
Anger is not the opposite of love but a manifestation of something much darker, a manifestation of pride that distorts our senses and drives a wedge between us and everything we love. Worse, anger is the stealthiest sin, as it worms its way into our hearts and steals our God-given grace long before we realize it.

Is it OK to Clap at Mass?
By Bill Dunn
Sunday Mass was coming to a close, and the children’s choir belted out the Recessional Hymn in fine style. When the last note concluded, most of the folks still left in the pews offered up heartfelt applause for the musical tykes. As the clapping subsided, a woman in the pew behind me muttered, “There should NEVER be clapping at Mass! It’s offensive to God.”
