The Gift of Perpetual Adoration
By Karen Cubberly
I say that Perpetual Adoration is a gift because it is not available at all churches therefore I am truly blessed that we offer it at my home parish and have for over sixteen years now. When it first began, my dad took an hour for many years. My husband and I helped to cover the hour if he was away but I never really thought about taking my own hour.

How to Pray
By Michael Ogundele
Prayer is a wonderful gift bestowed on mankind by which we reach the heart of God. It is a sweet tidings by which Heaven prepares graces for men, and man raises himself in communication with the Supreme Being. The beauty plays out across all cultures, languages and creed, and it has revealed the commonality by which our hearts and souls yearn to reach out to what is more than us.

Examination of Conscience: Supreme Court Edition
By Jessica Skelton
In light of today's United States Supreme Court decision to re-define marriage as something other than the union of one man and one woman, it may be helpful for Catholics to pause and engage in some self-examination before we try to move forward in history.

Why I Receive Communion on the Tongue
By Susan Skinner
The short answer to this question, why do I receive on the tongue, is because my husband asked me to. He had his reasons, which I may one day share with you, if anyone is interested. But he is a convert, he knew nothing of Pre-Vatican II, and he asked me to. He doesn’t ask much of me, so I complied, as did our children

How Holy Water Strengthened My Relationship With Jesus
By Rebecca Downs
It never ceases to amaze me how, even though I consider myself a devout Catholic, I can still come to know Jesus more and more. While the incident I am writing about happened earlier this month, I want to also go back to Good Friday. This year I had the privilege of being inside the beautiful St. Patrick's Cathedral for about five hours.

Receive The Holy Spirit
By Lori Conklin
People hurt us, they say mean things, do things that cause us great physical and emotions pain, and then walk free; as if they did nothing at all. We all have met these people, they are our acquaintances, neighbors, friends, and family members. We are bombarded daily with stories of people who are hurting other people. Yet Our Lord gives us this command at Pentecost!!!!!

Why I'm Still Catholic (And Why Other People Aren't)
By Anabelle Hazard
My grandmother celebrates 100 years of being a Catholic. She will most likely be a Catholic till her last breath as all my other grandparents were. Me? I’m a mere forty-year cradle Catholic. I own that it hasn’t been easy to remain a faithful daughter of the Church, particularly during my turbulent twenties. There was a period I disagreed with, questioned, and criticized Holy Mother Church.

Not a Method, But a Relationship
By Richard Maffeo
Sometimes I'm asked what method I use during my contemplative prayers – which I think are better defined as meditative than contemplative. Truth is, I don’t have so much a method as I have a relationship. The distinction is not simply semantics. Relationships are built over time. Methods can be developed or copied in a few minutes.

Death and Mourning
By Debra Booton McCoy
Today we buried my stepdad. He did not die a few days ago. Actually, he died two days before Thanksgiving, six months ago. But, in the cold north where we live, the Catholic cemetery will not dig graves between November 15 and April 15. The reason is, there could be snow squalls during that time, or else the ground could be just too frozen to dig. Either way, we had to wait.

iPods and Contentment
By Sarah Aten
About six and a half years ago, my parents splurged big-time and got my brother and I the best Christmas presents ever: iPod nanos. Back then, they were basically like iPod classics, but they were only 8GB and fit in the palm of your hand. Mine was silver. I hardly used it until I made it to college, where I walked everywhere.

To Grow Closer to Jesus
By Helen Losse
I knew my penance was too light to cover my sin before I left the confessional, but I didn’t fully understand what had taken place until later. I had prepared for confession by examining myself and knew I was guilty of serious sin. I was ready to confess to the priest and encounter a hard penance. God knew I was contrite, and soon the priest did, too.

If I Had A Little Gold Box...
By Sarah Aten
Adoration, for those who don't know, is a Catholic term akin to praise and typically describes a period of time spent in private praise of the Lord. Adoration can be a series of pre-scripted prayers, or it can be one's own prayers. Lots of parishes have 24-hour adoration chapels, where individuals can go any hour of the day and fall on their knees before their Savior.

Happy Father's Day!
By Renee Oania
I was sorting through my school work and came upon two journal writings from my English Class. Thank you, Father always being there for my sister and I. Also, teaching us to have an open heart of trusting God and thanking Him daily. Amen!

Thank You, Lord, For Putting Up With Me...
By Rosemary Bogdan
I acquired an iPhone last Fall. I confess that I really did not like it in the beginning. In fact, I declared that I hated it. Yes. I claimed to hate it. Pretty strong words, even from someone as opinionated as I am. Then I lost it.

Will You Fight?
By John C Prejean Sr.
Deep inside every man, we have that “fighting” spirit. There are many things we will fight for throughout our lives. Some men fight in our military, some men fight for sport, some men fight against addictions and others have debilitating diseases and fight for their lives. As men whether you realize it or not, we are always in a fight

Coffee, the Rosary & the Bible
By Matthew Newsome
CHARLES: Sorry I'm late. The line at Starbucks was moving really slow. But I did remember this time that you don't take sugar, so I'm learning! Here's your coffee. FRANK: Thanks! And I don't mind the wait at all. It's a beautiful day, and I was able to get in some extra prayer time while I waited. I got through three decades of the rosary.

Tell them about Mary
By Victor S E Moubarak
Once upon a time there was an old priest who became rather forgetful and tired of giving sermons at Mass on Sunday. He used to write down his sermons and then read them at Mass; but more often than not he used to forget bringing his sermons to church; so at sermon time he had nothing to read anyway.
