Easy to forgive?
By Kathy Lamb
This happened on the coldest days last of the year. When I came home from morning Mass our neighbor Benny met me at the car. He’s a young man around 20 years old but he’s already been in and out of jail a few times for things as minor drinking or driving with a suspended license. His mother doesn’t always bail him out so he’s spent weeks at a time in jail.

Killing Euthanasia
By David R. Myers
I think one of the difficulties of discussing life issues is that the battle resembles trench warfare. Both sides dig in. Both sides hurl the same kinds of “bombs” against each other. Those who favor euthanasia, for example, often cite the “tremendous suffering” experienced by some who want to end their lives.

Behind Every Great Woman is a Man Who Slays the Dragons
By Teresa Hurst
I’m an optimist by nature, with a “we got this”, can-do attitude that always drinks from the half full glass. My husband, on the other hand, is Mr. Realist. Johnny raincloud. He’s usually bursting my happy bubble with rational statements like: “We can’t spend more than we make, Teresa.”

His Real Presence. Our Real Power. My Proclamation. (A True Story)
By Greg Schlueter
My wife and I just completed Whole 30. She first declared the commitment. No way I was going to sit on the sidelines. (Yes, God can use pride!) From the very beginning it was an unlikely gift. My pangs. So many times at the end of the day I wanted to split a beer (as my wife and I do) or glass of wine. Or through the day go for cheese. I'm from Wisconsin. I love cheese.

What If That Curious Story Really Is True?
By Bill Dunn
Easter Sunday is almost here. Our culture celebrates with eggs, the symbol of new life. And with bunnies, the symbol of fertility. And with lilies and other flowers, the symbol of springtime renewal. And with 30 pounds of chocolate per person and fancy new clothes, the symbols of a consumer society obsessed with gluttony and covetousness.

Helping the poor...
By George Calleja
There are different ways of helping the poor. Jesus has thought us how to do this. He helped the poor firstly and most important by loving them.

How to Explain Mercy (and Good Friday) to Children
By Grace Mazza Urbanski
Working with children (and raising a batch with my husband), I've picked up a few critical pieces of information about how children learn. For example, children require simple explanations in terms they can understand instinctively. Children also have little patience for information or activities that seem irrelevant to their concerns; they learn new concepts best when they can relate to the topic

Becoming Simon of Cyrene: Comfort to the Cross (Challenge to Hot Tub Catholics)
By Greg Schlueter
Let’s have the courage to consider: Are we not living in troubling times? Do we not experience it in our marriages and families? Among our closest friends and co-workers? We pray, but have we considered His means of response: church. Are our pews filling? Are those in our pews evidently alive in the Holy Spirit?

Go and Sin No More - The Mercy of God
By Wesley Falcao
"Go and sin no more", Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery. Have you committed adultery? I have; in my heart. For Jesus said, "I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart"

Do Catholics "Worship" Saints?
By Kevin Noles
Many people answer this question with a no. While they are not completely wrong the answer can also be yes. It depends on which sense of the word the person is using. Amongst Catholics it would be ok to say we worship the saint however around Protestants the correct answer is no. Venerate is the more appropriate term though worship, in the older and Biblical sense, is acceptable as well.

Images of God's mercy
By Fr. Jude M. Serfino
As I was reflecting on God's mercy one Saturday evening just after I prepared my Sunday homily, I recalled what had happend during that day. I saw images of real people young and old alike whose lives were transformed by God’s tender and loving mercy. First thing I did that morning was to hear confessions of our first-communicants.

You Are You
By Mariel Roersma
Recently we recognized the birthday of the great Dr. Seuss. And one of my favorite quotes from him says, “Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!”

Firing On All Cylinders
By Teresa Hurst
We’ve had three Rottweilers over the years. Great dogs, great big dogs; but one particular fault between them. They all had stomach issues; and you knew this quite distinctly from the telltale silent fog. Invisible. Sometimes silent, but deadly. It was much like the apocalyptic angel of death that washed over the sorry souls during the Exodus.

Five Considerations in Face of a Fight that Seems Disproportional
By John Horvat
So many times, people become discouraged by all the trials and obstacles they face. The struggle to lead a life of Catholic virtue seems huge and disproportional. This is especially true of our neo-pagan world where all sorts of vice and temptations constantly appear before us.
