God is getting old
By Victor S E Moubarak
Father Ignatius’s car had broken down just on the day he had to drive to the City miles away. Somehow he was glad this had happened because in all honesty he hated to drive long distances, especially when it involved negotiating busy traffic in the City.

By David Vermont
Today we read Matthew’s account of the scene where Jesus is anointed with the expensive oil / ointment. Jesus rebukes them and promises that here loving gesture to him will always be remembered.

With All Your Heart - Art of the Big-Hearted
By Rev. John H. Hampsch, C.M.F
The heart of a blue whale, caught in 1947, was hoisted onto a giant scale. It registered an amazing 1,540 pounds! The heart of this world's largest animal seems awesome to us, but the really big-hearted are the human love champions that love their enemies.

Wonder Woman: Anti-Feminist Superhero
By Peter Darcy
Please. No one tell Betty Friedan that a Greek goddess just smashed her feminist mystique. The Greek goddess in question is Diana, Princess of Themyscira, Daughter of Hyppolita, otherwise known as Wonder Woman. Technically Diana is a demigoddess, but this article isn’t about technicalities, it’s about a marvelous story that turns modern feminist doctrine on its head.

The Eucharist: Real Presence or "Real Symbol"?
By Ken Litchfield
Catholics and Protestants have different views on the Eucharist or the Lord’s Supper as it is known in many Protestant faith traditions. Protestants and some Catholics have a hard time with Jesus’ command that we must eat His flesh and drink His blood.

Free Will / The Gift of...........
By Ralph Hathaway
Think of the many gifts Almighty God gives to us. There are so many, both great and small, that to enumerate them may become arduous to say the least. All are very significant, even if some appear to be insignificant by human standards.

In the book of the Acts of the Apostles, we see the great conversion of Saul. He is a fervent Jew, a Pharisee, determined to put down this heretical splinter group of Jews known as Christians.

A Friend Who Doubles Your Joy and Divides Your Sorrow
By Rev. John H. Hampsch, C.M.F
That astute wordsmith, Samuel Johnson, wisely advised, "Keep your friendships in good repair." There's hardly any conceivable life situation in which a close friend is not an asset. In the anguish of bereavement or in the exulting joy of celebration, the presence of a loyal and loving friend is a treasure, while the absence of a friend at such events is an unthinkable privation.

Did Our Lady Use Scare Tactics by Showing Children the Vision of Hell?
By Rex Teodosio
The most impressive picture of the three seers of Fatima is the one taken soon after they saw the vision of hell. The vision lasted only moments but it is evident from the expressions on their faces how profoundly it marked them.

Trusting and Believing in Jesus
By Renee Oania
As a child growing up, I never understood about Jesus and why he was important to me in my life. I am in late thirties and not too far in my forties and I am starting to see life differently, maybe it’s because God has been showing me signs along the way.

Day 47 – The Parable of the Talents
By David Vermont
The parable of the talents is always a little difficult for me. It seems incongruent. The one who is given much gets even more. The one who is given little gets punished severely. At first, it doesn’t seem fair and I always feel badly for the one who had little and yet was still punished. He was afraid and didn’t know what to do with his little bit. He had very little room for error so he p

When Diamonds Are Not Forever
By Rev. John H. Hampsch, C.M.F
The gentle love conveyed by a gold-set diamond engagement ring sharply contrasts with tremendous upheaval associated with the ring's origin. Diamonds are simply carbon, super-heated and super squeezed in the roots of a volcano - conduits called "kimberlite pipes." Silver, copper, and even gold are also spawned by volcanoes. (The Antarctic volcano Mount Erebus, when erupting, dusts the white cont

Cameron, my son, sat in his middle school gymnasium for an awards ceremony, reading a book. “The Great Reckoning” by Louise Penny, was his latest literary venture. He just started it. It will take him a week or two to read it. I don’t know how he reads so fast, but it’s a gift.

Tales Of A Tornado Alley Catholic
By Nate Lauer
I grew up in a Colorado that is without mountains. That might seem hard to imagine. Growing up on a thousand-acre Northeastern Colorado farm and ranch might also seem hard to imagine. 1,000 acres is a lot of land by most people’s estimations.

When you are around lots of different people, you see they appreciate many different things. Some appreciate the simple things and others the not so simple things. Lately though, I’ve had numerous people remark that prayer is the best gift you can give someone. Yes, prayer, talking to God.

They shall bear fruit even in old age; vigorous and sturdy shall they be...(Psalm 92)

Chronologically, I have moved from elderly to old, I’m a participant in the process of aging and dying. I can go kicking and screaming or I can be bold - Not be a Sadducee, but choose to be a believer in the God of the living.
