Lent and the miraculous hoax of grace
By Mary Ann Gambill
As we are in our season of Lent at the Gambill house, the theme of grace and mercy are the prevailing marker by which we continue to live. We have chosen to not so much give up things but to give in to God. Give in to His voice, give in to His path without kicking and screaming or complaint.

Lenten Deep Cleaning
By Lisa Ponchak
Once we had a vacuum cleaner that would only suck up a certain amount of dirt. For some reason the dirt was not going into the canister and was only going through the hose. We kept cleaning the dirt out of the hose and it kept getting clogged up.

The hidden life of the Holy Family
By Marie Kelly
In the Gospels, it says “Mary treasured these things in her heart.” Moms do that. They keep memories. Have you ever wondered what memories Mary treasured? We don’t know the hidden moments but we can take guesses. Mary was a mom. I bet she told St. Anne about baby Jesus first step.

God "Geeks" Easter's Transformation
By Amy Alexander
Over the past year, the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) has been running a public awareness campaign called Geek the Library . The campaign’s tag question: “What do you geek?” By turning the noun “geek” into a verb, the OCLC has made it cool to be so interested in something that you’re willing to seek the subject’s frontiers, read, talk, write about it and live it.

I AM
By Elizabeth Thomas
I am in the garden—let me not hide, so I can find God—so He can walk and talk with me. I am in the desert---let me not complain, but give thanks—so God can lead me into the Promised Land.

We Said "Yes", Too
By Michaelyn Hein
I heard it again yesterday. The words that make me cringe a little, terrible though that sounds. But, it's not from disagreement. I cringe from something else.

An Unexpected Gift
By Lori Conklin
As I sit in my window seat, gazing at the newly fallen snow, its color so white, so pure, so beautiful. The way it covers the ground, the wires, the trees in simplicity creating a one of a kind masterpiece. It’s profoundly peaceful. I take a deep breathe in and close my eyes, and think of a verse from Psalm 51, purify me with hyssop, until I am clean, wash me until I am whiter than snow.

Jesus Wore Purple Knickers
By Lisa Ponchak
One truth I have been reflecting on lately is how Jesus took on our shame. He literally took on our shame when he died such a shameful death on the Cross. Since he took on our shame, we do not need to walk in shame. Often however we do walk in shame because of past hurts and sin we have experienced.

Moved and Transformed by Love and Mercy
By Janet Moore
To those who feel weighed down with guilt and shame, and can experience overwhelming pain in their struggle with accepting God's forgiveness, I write this to you! Lent is not meant to be a time to be overcome with sadness contemplating the suffering and death of Jesus, but rather it is a time to be captivated by pondering in awe the depth of our Savior’s Love for us.

Something's Fishy on Fridays During Lent
By Dean P. Johnson
When I stepping through the backdoor a couple of Fridays ago, I smelled something delicious. I had no idea what it was, but I knew it wasn’t pizza, a Lenten Friday staple. “Fish?” I asked. A brilliant deduction if I say so myself given that every Friday on the calendar magnetically pinned to the refrigerator has a picture of a fish on it.

Oh my! How I needed to read this! A dear friend sent this email, perfect for any time of the year. “ According to a report this year by NPR and the Harvard School of Public Health, more than 63 percent of Americans are battling stress, and a significant number describe their stress as “great.”

RELEVANCE OF 10 COMMANDMENTS
By Victor S E Moubarak
It was long ago that God gave the Commandments and the Law to Moses and the Children of Israel. Yet we read elsewhere in Scripture that the Law was incapable of making us righteous. What then was the purpose of this gift?

Scars
By Michael Adsit
Bickering siblings strategizing for best the seat in the car, while I’m securely strapping my preschooler in his booster seat, mom pushing us out the door as quickly as she possibly can, all for a one-mile ride to school and some quiet time for me at daily Mass. Let’s not forget the winter weather advisory followed by dangerously cold wind chills sweeping the area to begin this day.
