I'm Not Who You Think I Am
By Joe Richard
I am one of the most misunderstood figures in the New Testament. I have been called a repentant whore. Some people say I was the adulterous woman whom The Master saved from a death by stoning. I was accused of wasting an alabaster jar of expensive ointment by rubbing it on my poor Master's tired feet. I was maligned by many throughout the history of Christianity.

Thankful Thursday - both and
By Dianne Marie
Again - time has slipped away. Rather than bemoan that fact, I want to revel in what that has meant for me. It’s been 7 months since I uprooted my life.

Family, Friends, People in Purgatory and Ethiopia
By Jen Schlameuss-Perry
If there’s one thing that my Catholic Elementary School education taught me, it was to look outside myself in all situations, but particularly when there’s suffering involved. Having gone to a small school, teachers sometimes got recycled into different grades, causing me to have one teacher both in 5th and 7th grade. This teacher had a very specific way of incorporating prayer into our class time

Waiting in the Bread Line
By Caroline Godin
I was quietly watching the Consecration at Mass, my arm holding my seven-year-old as though his exhaustion was causing him to melt into the floor. Seven is so very exhausting!
My daughter was half paying attention, which was an improvement from last year when she was preparing for First Communion.

How being a parent helped me better understand God
By Emily Allen
Becoming a mother has opened my eyes to just how much of children we truly are in the eyes of God. The interactions I have with my son on a daily basis have offered true insight into the relationship between God and man. There’s a sense of immeasurable love for my child, and a desire to keep him safe from any sadness or danger. I also have a better sense than he does about what’s best for him.

Who Is This Nun?
By Joni Johnson
If you have read any of my previous articles, you will know that I was raised Protestant, and remained so until our family became Catholic in 2007. In that paradigm, the figure of Mother Teresa was an enigma to me.

About Confession, About a Goal, About Time
By Ross Decker
I recently watched the Richard Curtis film, About Time. I love the movie and I've seen it many times but it never fails to inspire me.The movie always makes me want to be a better man. And, at least for a short time after seeing it, convinces me that I can be.

Moral Relativism: The Price Our Children May Pay
By Patricia Mann
Relativism is a buzz-word for those who are concerned about morality in our current society. This world-view rejects absolute truth and universal standards of moral conduct for the preferences, choices, and values of the individual.

Eugenics Voters: Are You One?
By Melanie R. Cameron
I am speaking of eugenics voters as those who view the top two party candidates as the only two viable candidates and the only ones worthy of our vote.

I see God!
By Kathy Lamb
I conscientiously pray and as I pray I think, why do I pray or rather how dare I be so presumptions as to address the Almighty! Insignificant creature that I am. If God showed me a half second glimpse of his power, I would probably hide my face and fall to the ground or stand before the might of God crying, shaking, trembling, my teeth chattering.

The Sin and Virtue Series #2
By Chick Todd
Today we continue with our series on the cardinal sins and virtues and take a look at the virtue of kindness and it's opposite, envy. At first one might ask, "How are these opposites? Isn't the opposite of Kindness … Meanness?" Today we will look at the Biblical meanings of these words and compare or contrast them with the worldly view

God Bless America
By Michelle Watkins
This summer I read an article from a columnist advocating the removal of the song "God Bless America" from all baseball games. To push his agenda he quoted various opinion polls. Those surveyed allegedly agreed it was time for the song to be retired.

This College Kid Can Teach All of Us a Lesson*
By Larry Peterson
Most Catholics know of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. The Society has been helping people in need for over 180 years. What most Catholics do not know is that St. Vincent de Paul is not the founder of the society. It is simply named after him because of his lifelong example of Christian charity. So, if it was not founded by St. Vincent de Paul where did it come from? How did it begin?

What I Hear at Mass
By Chris Harvey
Maybe it’s just me, but I get irritated when I hear Mass referred to as a “service” by Catholics. That term sounds bland and banal to me, and it misses the point of the Mass. The Mass is not simply a remembrance of a past event or something the attendee “does” to show their respect to God, like visiting an aged relative out of a sense of family obligation;

To Be Beautiful
By Veronica Dannemiller
In a world that places so much value on beauty, how is anyone able to stand out? I could be completely surrounded by the world's most attractive people and feel surrounded by an ugliness that can't be covered up by concealer and eyeliner. You see, the world has two definitions of beauty.
