Nina Rizzo, PhD is the Founder of Open Door of Faith that offers spiritual retreats uniquely designed for the RCIA Ministry and Special Topics for Christian groups. Retreats are designed to help individuals enter into the mystery of faith, become aware of God's presence, and listen to Jesus' voice as they discover the Lord's call to conversion, discipleship, and service. Each retreat invites people to encounter Jesus through Scripture reflection, interpersonal sharing, and prayer journaling.
With over 15 years of experience as a as a leader, catechist, and retreat facilitator in catechetical ministries in parishes throughout the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh, Nina has a gift for explaining theological principles that ignites faith, inspires joy, and deepens commitment to the Gospel. While directing RCIA teams, Nina created and now leads retreats for each period of the RCIA process that complement the catechetical sessions. Nina is also co-Founder of The Heart’s Journey, offering spiritual retreats to people seeking to deepen their relationship with Jesus.
In 2014 Nina traveled throughout the Raleigh Diocese co-presenting a workshop on the New Evangelization titled Effective Strategies for Creating An Evangelizing Parish Culture. The workshop trained parish staff and volunteers oh how to organize evangelization teams to assure that all parish ministries were focused on forming intentional disciples.
Nina is the co-author of Journaling with Jesus, a prayer journal that provides meditations with questions to ponder and journal with Jesus. Nina holds a PhD in Social Psychology and Personality Theory and Raleigh Diocesan Certification at the Master Level for Catechetical Leadership. Nina is married and has two sons.
