Here is the secret: There are three things that are even more attractive than a suit or witty small talk. You can see them all in this picture:
Accompanying this article is a picture of a man kneeling in prayer. But it shows so much more.
This picture does not just show a man who has Faith. It shows a man who has the three most attractive qualities to Christian girls (four qualities, if one counts the shirt).
What are the magic three qualities hidden in the picture?
1. Humility
It is difficult for anyone to get on their knees; it is an acknowledgement of someone else’s power over you.
This is especially true of young men who try to look fearless and independent before girls.
When she sees a guy kneeling, a girl knows this guy does not see himself as the highest individual in the human species. Instead, he realizes there is Someone even more powerful than he that he should bow to.
2. Self-Discipline
When people describe their favorite activities, it is rare for them to list “praying” as a hobby.
That is because it is not enjoyable for most of us. Our knees hurt, our minds wander, we miss out on activities we want to do.
The man who takes time to pray has put God and his own spiritual well-being above the urge to play video games or hang out with friends. That shows he is willing to sacrifice for something important. He sees the future or, more specifically-
3. He Has Goals
Christianity is not the religion of satisfying our present desires.
Christ said to take up our crosses and follow Him (Matthew 16:24–26).
Already, seeing the young man on his knees, we know he is willing to sacrifice and “take up his cross”.
But only a slave kneels for no reason; our young man has a good reason for suffering. He is on his knees instead of Netflix because praying will bring him to his goal and Game of Thrones will not.
He is not only taking up his cross; he is following His Leader to his goal.
The Bible shows us that carrying a cross is not enough: The thief to the left of Christ carried his cross pointlessly, with no goal in sight. The thief to the right instead saw his cross as a way to “be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43).
Assuming the man kneeling is not doing it for fun, he is copying the actions of the Good Thief. He follows His Master so that one day he can experience the joys of Paradise.
