The Transfiguration: A Prelude to the Resurrection
An Alliance with the Holy Spirit means Belief in Everlasting Life
This of course does not infer that we are splitting the Three persons of the Holy Trinity for different aspects of their namesake. “When you see me you have seen the Father.
The announcements to Zechariah and Mary the Angel Gabriel were sent to these two parent- to- be regarding the births of John the Baptist and Jesus Christ. It is through the presence of the Holy Spirit that the fulfillment of this mystery in both cases would be for our salvation. (see Luke 1: 5 - 80, 2: 1 - 14).
But since Jesus, before his passion, told the disciples; "I have told you, The Advocate, the holy spirit that the Father will send in my name-he will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.” (Jn 14: 25 - 26). For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes he will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and condemnation: sin, because they do not believe in me; righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see me; condemnation, because the ruler of this world has been condemned. (Jn 16: 7b - 11).
“But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. And he gave some as apostles, others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers, to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the extent of the full stature of Christ, so that we may no longer be infants, tossed by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery, from their cunning in the interests of deceitful scheming. Rather, living the truth in love, we should grow in every way into him who is the head, Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, with the proper functioning of each part, brings about the body’s growth and builds itself up in love. (Eph 4: 7, 11 - 16).
Phillip asked Jeus to show them the Father, and that will be enough for us. Jesus said to him, “Have I not been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Phillip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, “Show us the Father?” Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. (Jn 14: 8 - 14). Keep in mind the preceding paragraph above which follows in this chapter; (Jn 14: 25 - 26). All three persons of the Holy Trinity are present in this application requiring our faith.
