Life in poverty
Since it is still liturgtically Christmas, Merry Christmas! Anyway, if y'all want to make the rest of my Christmas, and my New Year very happy, go here, Help with medical bills, be sure to check out my latest episode on Locals; Elisabeth and the other man book discussion, and writing as therapy, and please see my previous article, here; On the Indefectibility of the Church
“The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy; the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal, Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man. I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.
Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in his garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him”. (Proverbs 30:1-5)
Okay, this is A LOT to unpack. I wanted to do a reflective article on this because it's really windy (I live in South Carolina, but I was born and partially raised in Davenport, Iowa and the area thereabouts, it's like tornado weather, today,Davenport, Iowa — Tornados)
So, I was trying to find something to to write about wind, and, instead, I find some prophecy!
Now, did you ever wonder what “Son of God” means, or what it comes from? You probably already knew it was from the Old Testament (indeed, this phrase and similar phrases are used other places in the Old Testament, like the Deuterocanonical book of Wisdom, Those extra books ain't extra, but, this is why it's so important to know what that phrase means.
No, to be fair, the Old Testament does use the phrase “Sons of God” (plural), Such as in Genesis 6:2 and Genesis 6:4.
But, I can tell you who God's Son is, Jesus of Nazareth. Even better, he's also called the Word of God (yes, The Bible is the Word of God, but, think about it this way “church” can refer to a building where the worshipers gather, the diocese, or the entire organizational structure, “Word of God” also has multiple meanings, one of which is Jesus himself).
Anyway, y'all, your homework is to read John 1:1-14, and then go back and read the verses I wrote about.
*All verses are from the King James Version
