Taking out the trash (and other chores...)

After a tragedy like the terrorist attack in Belgium, the question comes: "If there is a God, why does He let things like this happen?" And, "doesn't He care?"
Well the first answer is complicated. When God created us He also gave us Free Will. Meaning the freedom to do His Will which would keep us in Eden and in a perfect world where there was no death or pain or sadness. When Adam and Eve allowed satan to enter into their minds and their thoughts, they allowed evil into the world. God had never intended for this to be our world. So when someone says "Why did God allow this?" I say now- He didn't. But having given us the freedom to choose good over evil we have allowed ourselves through history to choose evil. The evil in the world today is NOT from God, but from our own choices going back all the way to the first humans. When we make poor choices we reap what we sow. When we make good choices we often get better consequences! However we must first recognize that our world is broken.
When we break a plate and we think we can put it back together again, we often use a lot of glue and let the plate sit to cure. But there will always be tiny fragments that never get back to the plate. God has a lot of gluing to do to put our world right again.
When He sent Christ to us, He gave us a way back into paradise. To live with Him again in love and harmony- and He did it through the very evil that we allowed into the world! He gives us life eternal through death! This brings us to the second question "Doesn't He care?" Of course He cares. He sent us Christ. He gave us His only son. For God to then watch Him die on a cross. To then defeat death and open the gates of heaven! If your mom or dad gave their life to save yours you would not have any doubts of their love for you. Christ came as fully God and fully man for us. Just so God could have us with Him for all eternity again. Like He had intended from the beginning of the world. God cares. We need to choose His way and not the way of the world. We may live in this world, but we should always be aware of the world that is to come.
May the Peace of Christ be with you this day.
Mary, Our Mother, Pray for us!
