On Daughters, children, and Children of God

How many times have you heard a friend, a relative, or even yourself say "We just grew apart" when speaking of a friend or spouse or family member? It's always so tragic hearing this and it makes me wonder, Why? Well the answer is- They stopped talking. They stopped communicating! Many couples often rekindle their love when they realize they have not grown apart, but changed together in the uniqueness of their relationship. Change is never bad when it is faced together!
But what happens when we don't know how to communicate with God? A lot actually. We seek to fill that void with worldly things. We stray from the religion we were raised in. We turn to drugs, alcohol, bad relationships. All these things people do when their human relationships are falling apart as well! So how do we rekindle with God? Our Creator. Our Father in heaven?
Prayer. Prayer is how we communicate with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Saints! Prayer is simply how we get our thoughts to heaven. In turn, prayer is how we should listen for an answer. It isn't always the answer we are searching for, but it is God's will we have to believe we are fulfilling. When we pray to the Saints, obviously they are unable to answer our prayer as God can, but they answer with more prayer, taking our intentions to Jesus and God Our Father with urgency and care. But there again is communication kindling the relationship between the saints and God!
When my husband gets home from a long day at work, often a 12 hour shift, I ask him how his day was. For a long time he would give me one word answers "It was fine." Or "it's better now that I'm home!" And I would say nope good try! Because communication is so vital to how our relationship grows and strengthens! With three kids and God's animals to care for, it can be difficult to find that time to nurture my own relationship with God and Jesus. Thankfully, through the Church, I'm given the Sacraments to act as markers in my relationship, or faith, journey. Every time I go to Confession, I am brought closer to God. Every time I receive Communion, I am given a piece of our Savior. Every time I perform a Work of Mercy, I am strengthened by the Holy Spirit. But all of these things enrich my communication with heaven and bring me that much closer, day by day, prayer by prayer, and yes, diaper by diaper, to exacty what God has planned for me.
