And What About the Children?
By Larry Peterson
The headline of the Tampa Tribune this morning (Saturday, June 27) was emblazoned with huge, bold letters that read, "Pride & Joy". The Tampa Bay Times shouted, "A Right For All". The Supremes have spoken and their decision is in the books. According to the headlines, the world is rejoicing. I just wish someone could tell me about the children. What about the children?

What are God's Purposes for Human Sexuality?
By Steven R. Hemler
As it says in the book of Genesis, God made humans in his own image and "male and female he created them." So, we should ask what is God's divine plan and purpose for our sexuality. Of course, the most obvious purpose is procreation. Humans are made male and female in order to conceive and bear children, and thus to "be fruitful and multiply."

Immodest Swimsuit Shows Too Little!
By Greg Schlueter
It's that time of year. Clothes are down to a minimum. It's an occasion to revisit a recent Facebook conversation: "SI Swimsuit Edition. Lust is the sport. Women are made objects. Men are made predators. Everyone loses. Literally and figuratively. Don't buy it." Amidst likes and positive comments, I was appreciative to have the dominant, cultural view represented

Examination of Conscience: Supreme Court Edition
By Jessica Skelton
In light of today's United States Supreme Court decision to re-define marriage as something other than the union of one man and one woman, it may be helpful for Catholics to pause and engage in some self-examination before we try to move forward in history.

Why I Receive Communion on the Tongue
By Susan Skinner
The short answer to this question, why do I receive on the tongue, is because my husband asked me to. He had his reasons, which I may one day share with you, if anyone is interested. But he is a convert, he knew nothing of Pre-Vatican II, and he asked me to. He doesn’t ask much of me, so I complied, as did our children

7 Ways God has Equipped Us to Live in the World (and How They Ended up in a Fantasy Novel)
By Mishka Góra
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a cradle Catholic or a convert. None of us is immune to straying. I know this more than most. I converted over twenty years ago, but I spent six of those early years without the sacraments. They were dark times, and I myself didn’t know how I ended up there.

"Gender Fluidity" and the Language Contrary to Catholic Teaching (Installment #2)
By Melanie R. Cameron
Last post, I introduced how Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia had proposed sweeping changes to the curriculum as a result of a vote to include gender identity in the nondiscrimination policy list. I wish to boil it down to a very simple statement: There is a very distinct difference between nondiscrimination/inclusiveness and indoctrination.

Steak and Intimacy
By Jen Schlameuss-Perry
There is a harmful attitudinal trend that has begun to stretch along many generations and is very disconcerting. It has to do with sex and intimacy—so if you’re squeamish, stop reading now (or 9 words ago, depending on how squeamish you are). I’m not sure how we got to where we are with this topic—sure it’s all over books, TV, movies, music, etc.,

Receive The Holy Spirit
By Lori Conklin
People hurt us, they say mean things, do things that cause us great physical and emotions pain, and then walk free; as if they did nothing at all. We all have met these people, they are our acquaintances, neighbors, friends, and family members. We are bombarded daily with stories of people who are hurting other people. Yet Our Lord gives us this command at Pentecost!!!!!

Death and Mourning
By Debra Booton McCoy
Today we buried my stepdad. He did not die a few days ago. Actually, he died two days before Thanksgiving, six months ago. But, in the cold north where we live, the Catholic cemetery will not dig graves between November 15 and April 15. The reason is, there could be snow squalls during that time, or else the ground could be just too frozen to dig. Either way, we had to wait.

Happy Father's Day!
By Renee Oania
I was sorting through my school work and came upon two journal writings from my English Class. Thank you, Father always being there for my sister and I. Also, teaching us to have an open heart of trusting God and thanking Him daily. Amen!

Father Knows Best
By Sherry Kenner
I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones. My parents will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary next year! I never knew the pains of divorce. I never even thought about it until I married my husband, who came from a divorced home. As children, we take parents for granted. They are just always there. They feed us, clothe us, comfort us…

Awakening to Share the Gift of Life
By Lora Wilson
I've always slept deep and long. As a baby, I would sleep nearly 20 hours a day. Mom used to check repeatedly to make sure I was still breathing. She was a legendary worrier and a fitful sleeper herself.

A Vocation Story
By Grace Mazza Urbanski
I spent most of high school and college assuming I would never marry or have children. God had set me on fire with faith, and I wanted to give him my absolute best. In Catholic terms, as far as I knew, that meant entering religious life. For a couple of years I attended campus ministry meetings for wanna-be nuns and priests, and my weekends were often scheduled with "come and see" retreats at var

"Gender Fluidity" Sweeping Our County's Schools; Get Ready, It Will Sweep Our Country's Schools (Installment #1)
By Melanie R. Cameron
In March 2015, the Fairfax County Virginia School Board announced it would be voting to add “gender identity” to its nondiscrimination policy list. On May 7, 2015, after voting in this policy (10-1), the board surprisingly introduced a sweeping set of curriculum changes (8.5 and 10.5 are directly contrary to Church teaching), many of which are directly contrary to Church teaching

Living a Holy Life is Child's Play
By Melanie Jean Juneau
God has called me to live out a childlike spirituality of joy which is not an east path for a modern adult who is told to be independent and self-sufficient. This spirituality was not of my choosing. I craved the life of an intense regime of self-sacrifice as a consecrated, contemplative religious.

Be a Hero: Become a Saint
By Traditional Catholic Guy
There is something about heroism that is awe inspiring. Whether it is the video of someone risking life and limb to pull someone out of a burning car, to the actions of a soldier carrying his wounded comrade out of heavy fire, heroic actions fill us with a sense of admiration. You know the feeling.
