The Easter Mysteries and The Mystic Way
By David Torkington
The very reason why Christ sent out his love on the first Pentecost day was so that it could enter into all who would receive it. This love that would draw us up into his mystical body and then into his mystical contemplation of his Father was God’s plan from the beginning, so that through contemplating his glory we would ultimately be drawn into that glory.

Who Forsook Whom?
By Marilyn Hetrick
At 3:00 on the first Good Friday, Jesus had been on the cross in unutterable agony for six hours, and he called out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” I’ve always believed those words were Jesus’ prayer to God, his Father—words coming from the anguish of Jesus’ humanity, a quote from an ancient Psalm which ends in joy. But, yesterday, I heard those words in a different light.

Reflecting on the Death of Jesus
By E.M. McCarthy
The Stations of the Cross are a deeply prayerful devotion. Pilgrims meditated on the path that Jesus walked as early as 335 AD. Praying The Way of the Cross creates an everlasting bond between those who read them and JesusContemplating events such as Pilate's unfair show trial give us a new understanding of how we blaspheme God when we choose our sins over Him, the Author of Life.

Good Friday: Judgement or Mercy?
By Ralph Hathaway
G“Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Words of supplication in agony; are not heard, seemingly! But, God hears all of our prayers and certainly not only heard but felt the very agonizing request of His Son, writhing in pain and humanly asking why?

Why this waste? It could have been sold for much, and the money given to the poor.
By Troy Kroening
Have you ever thought this? I know that I have. Actually, those are the words of Jesus’ disciples in the Gospel of Matthew. “[A] woman came up to him with an alabaster jar of costly perfumed oil, and poured it on his head.” – [Matthew 26:7] We probably remember the story. The woman uses the costly perfume to anoint Jesus and His disciples objected. Then, Jesus corrected them.

The Perfect Loser
By Chick Todd
Philippians 3:8 – 8 … I regard everything as loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and I regard them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ Jesus my Lord. This is one of those passages that sounds very familiar; it is also a passage we usually reckon as unattainable.

The Final Test
By Linda Kracht
This Good Friday we will hear Jesus cry out “My God, My God; why have you abandoned me?” He isn’t crying out against the unjust accusations or the horrible scourging or the fatal injuries suffered at the cruel hands of the Romans or the Jewish people as he walked to Calvary. Rather, He is agonized by feeling disconnected from God - his Heavenly Father.
