Dr. Gerry Arango
Always mom first, now a grandmother as well, Dr. Geralyn Anderson Arango writes, teaches and consults on topics pertaining to intellectual disability across all phases of life. She is the host of "Our Parallel Paths: A Future for My Loved One with a Disability… and For Me!" a podcast produced by Networks for Training and Development. She is also the author of "What Would Nola Do? What My Mother Taught Me about Showing Up, Being Present and the Art of Caregiving." As an active member of St. John Chrysostom Parish in Wallingford PA, Gerry serves in the Funeral Ministry, guiding families as they prepare the elements of the Memorial Service for their loved one. At Christmas, she and her husband join their son as they are "Sensory Friendly Santa" and family, bringing a fun day to children and adults with disabilities. She also served as PreCana facilitator and in the Racial Healing Ministry at St. John's. Gerry lives in Wilmington, Delaware with her husband Michael. Gerry is a Professor of Education, Emeritus, at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, PA.
