On Gratitude

One of the greatest resources we have as Christians is fellowship with one another. Whether it's prayer, company, or a visit - we are filled with joy to be in each other's company. It really does make a difference when we fellowship directly with one another because God promises to be there: “For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them" (Matthew 18:20).
There are multiple blessings to forming a spiritual family where the ties that bind are your fundamental beliefs in Christ. Recently, I saw a friend I hadn't been around for years and when we gathered for a weekend with her family, I was unbelievably blessed with new experiences, new friends and fellowship that truly warmed my heart. Being around others who believe in Christ strengthens my own faith. Our deep discussions about God bring insight and questions about scripture are answered. We grow closer as siblings in Christ.
I have different friends with different ideals, but when sisters in Christ gather - watch out! A good time is bound to ensue! Having the support of women undergoing similar trials brings comfort that somebody else understands. The offer for prayer is always welcome and encouragement flows naturally. Only a sibling in Christ will truly understand your choices and sacrifices for your faith. It is through these individuals that we learn how to truly witness and love. And after all, isn't it our duty to love one another first and foremost? "This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you,” (John 15:12).
God doesn’t want us to be lonely. He sends specific people into our life to enlighten us and fortify us. Friendship is a holy gift and the people we encounter are meant to embark on our journey of life with us. Friends love us for who we are as we are at our best or at our worst. Having a good friend changes everything, including our outlook on life. My sisters in Christ make me want to be a better Christian. They move me to be a better person simply by being around them. People in your life are meant to mold you. Take a good look at your life today and identify who these individuals are in your life. Do you have friends who love you unconditionally? Do you have people in your life who motivate you? Who we choose to be around matters. And more importantly, we are meant to live social lives. We are meant to form bonds and celebrate life together. Being Christian means fellowship. It is our strength to be one as a body of Christ: “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it,” (1 Corinthians 12:27). Be blessed and make a new friend today!
