It Is Not How We Start but How We Finish

My dear friend Barbara has excellent memory and recall. She knows the proper name of all of my plants. “Your Gaura lindheimeri Belleza is blooming beautifully, and I see you cut back the Senna bicapsularis.” To which I invariably respond by talking about the wrong plant!
“Barbara,” I say, “there is something you must understand; I name each plant myself. When I walk through the nursery I ask, ‘What color are the blossoms? How large will they grow? Is it a perennial or annual? Does it prefer shade or sun?’” I gently plant each one where I think it will thrive and can adjust to the soil and amount of sunlight. After I’ve spent time with my plants they receive a new name from me, such as, Beautiful Ladies and Angel Face.
Each person living on this earth is like a flower in God the Father’s garden; each person planted by His hands; each possessing different gifts to serve Him with love and joy. He chooses where we will best grow with His grace, and He names each of us from His heart.
“Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine (Isaiah 43:2).”
