What A Mess ...

I’m going to date myself here. I am actually old enough to REMEMBER man walking on the Moon.
That said, I can also remember many other things. I remember not having access to cell phones, smart phones or computers. If I wasn’t home within 10 minutes of the street lamps coming on, or where my late, blessed mother could see me, I’d be spanked within an inch of my life. Phone calls? There was no call waiting – phone lines needed to be clear so my mom could call from her job to make sure I was home from school. Wikipedia? Nonsense – my parents paid a couple of hundred dollars for a New World Encyclopedia, money they barely had, but willing to spend to make sure I had the most “up-to-date” information for school projects.
Fast-forward to 2018. Kids are tracked by GPS. There is call-waiting, text-messaging, e-mail and the like. We have the repository of all the libraries of the world in a device the size of the palm of our hands. Truth be told – we want access and information, and we expect it NOW.
And, when it comes to answering life’s burning questions, we now expect no less than immediate answers from none other than GOD himself. But, God works outside of time and space. So, he – and we – have an eternity for the answers we seek, but we must be willing to be patient, even when we are sad, angry, or confused over many seemingly cruel issues such as murder, a child’s untimely death, the terminal illness of a spouse, etc.
Definitely something to think about as we move along life’s continuum toward our ultimate reunion with our Lord and Savior; I think we will be surprised at what we learn.
