Somewhere, Over the Rainbow ...

Recently, actress Anne Hathaway made comments with respect to so-called “white privilege”, as well as LGBT rights (see attached link below):

I won’t elaborate on the former, but I will on the latter. In short, Ms. Hathaway wants to destroy the “myth” that, somehow, traditional family values are a lynchpin of societal stability for families and children; while I am no theologian or sociologist, I’ll venture to bet there are many scholarly, peer-reviewed articles and studies corroborating this.
With respect to former U.S. VP Joseph Biden, who spoke at the same event as Ms. Hathaway I think it is fair to say that he is a CINO – Catholic In Name Only, for his many social positions contrary to Catholic teaching. I hope that, when orthodoxy is restored to the hierarchy of the Church, the appropriate sanctions are imposed for his manifest denial of the Faith.
I would like to remind my fellow Catholics that the Obergefell decision was never all about equality. I was cautioned by some attorney friends of mine here in South Florida that, after Obergefell, the focus would then turn on the imposition of the LGBT point-of-view in many areas, including employment at Catholic institutions, sacramental access, adoptions, etc. The penalty for failing to comport with their agenda would – and might well be – sanctions, to include revocation of the Church’s tax-exempt status. To my LGBT brethren, I offer my caution that you threaten to throw out the proverbial “baby with the bathwater” – remember, it was the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd who led the response to the HIV crisis of the 1980s and 1990s with the establishment of Camillus House here in Miami, Florida.
None of this should be construed as “hate” or “phobia” (although many will attempt to label it as such); I have no issues working with, socializing with or otherwise being with anyone who identifies as LGBT; they are my Earthly brothers and sisters, and I am called to be respectful of human dignity in my interactions with everyone. However, while we must live in a secular world, we must also own the fact that some are working towards the salvation of our souls for eternal life. If some wish to ignore this, that is fine; they exercise free will as given by God, and do so at their own risk – these include bishops and priests who have abjectly soiled their vows with conduct wholly contrary to Scripture, the Catechism and Canon Law.
Simply put, to be “Catholic” carries the intimation that there are a set of rules that need to be adhered to. To this end, I offer the most excellent analysis offered by none other than one of the “High Priests” of atheism, Penn Jillette, in an interview with Piers Morgan (formerly of CNN) upon the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI in 2015:
