The Love of Our Father

I am not typically a Lady Gaga fan but I find the song “Million Reasons” powerful, poignant, and relevant when related to or with regard to the current Church crisis.
Recently with seeing the endless stream of vile, disturbing stories from decades of pure evil and abuse occurring within the Church makes me sad, angry, and at times confused.
I think it is becoming more clear that there is a current & real Anti-Christ in our world, not a single man or woman but a movement of evil, an element of which is sadly attempting to take over the Church. My faith reminds me though that Jesus himself said to Peter, “on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not overpower it.” Matthew 16:18
At the end of the day, I do not know it will take to fix the Church, it may initially take some major tearing down in order to rebuild, but in the meantime this only strengthens and draws me closer to the one true reason I go to church and still call myself Catholic, that is through the gift of faith and knowing that I am loved; as well as the grace and peace that comes from Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Nothing can or ever will take that away from me.
Thus the Lady Gaga song, “Million Reasons”. I have often felt recently that the current Church is giving me a million reasons to leave but there is only one real reason I stay.
And that reason said this:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” John 14:6
My prayer is for healing for our broken Church and broken world, that can only come through the grace and power of the Holy Spirit. Come Holy Spirit, fill out hearts and transform our world. Amen.
