Like most people, I struggle with feeling empty from time to time, and sometimes feel periods of profound emptiness.
One day during daily Mass, the Holy Spirit prompted me to add these five simple words to my after Holy Communion prayer when I ask God to strengthen and nourish me with His food for the day ahead ...
Lord, fill my empty spaces.
The days I have said this prayer, God has filled me with what I need that day. Strength. Comfort. Love. Goodness.
When I start to feel empty again, I whisper it in the depths of my heart one more time.
It hasn't failed me yet.
