What Are You Thankful For? The Positive Side of Counting Our Blessings.

Don’t you get tired of it? The mundane? The same old, same old? The status quo? Sure, going to the bar and finding a girl to go to bed with has some sense of thrill and excitement to it. If it did not, why do it? Drinking to excess leaves all the cares in the world behind at least for now. Drugs offer an escape, though it is only temporary. Any other indulgence offers the same promise and therefore it gives you the allure, a small taste, more so a small counterfeit of the heaven you truly long for.
Like the Sirens of Greek Lore, the sweetness of temporary pleasure sleeks through the monotonous life, offering eternal joy and pleasure. All the while these temptations draw you closer to the dangerous rocks seeking to not only sink your ship, but to bury your existence far beneath the waves and rhythms of the beauty of life. But in the end the same old, same old routine does not give you life, it zaps it from you, just as every instance of addiction does not fill you with life, goodness and happiness, it drains you like a parasite drains it’s host.
Desire bigger, dream bigger and achieve it! The promptings of your hearts are there for a reason! Stop wasting time! No matter your situation, your wounds, your addictions or what happened in the past, walk confidently in the arms of Our Lady, as child does it’s own mother! She will lead you to the promise and purpose of your life! And above all, become who you were born to be, who you are in His eyes and as St. Catherine of Siena says, “You, yes you, will set the world ablaze!”
