Don't be a Victim

I call myself a Christian because I believe that our faith has the purest and most authentic definition of love. Let's take a deeper look into the way that the Bible defines love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 states,
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." These verses highlight the selflessness and beauty of love.
You see the world says that love is about the way that someone makes us feel or the way that we feel about someone else, but our faith takes things so much deeper by showing us that love is about our behavior and the way we treat others. In other words, true love is unconditional. This means that if you truly love someone then there is nothing that they can do that can separate them from your love. This is how God loves us. Furthermore, God is love. How could anyone not believe in the God who presents himself as this amazing love?
To be honest, so many people deny this kind of love because of the way it's represented in our world. Sometimes it can come off as judgmental and self righteous. Lately, it has even been portrayed by the media to be hateful and exclusive. There are so many misconceptions about Christianity that are buried deep in our society. We can only dig them up by taking things right back to scripture and radiating God's love to others, so that when people look at us, they see love and therefore, they see Him. Christianity is not always represented well, but it does have the best definition of love. People need to see past the actions of Christians sometimes and look deeper into what the Bible actually says because it has the power to breathe life and truth into everyone.
