St. John The Baptist – The Parable of the Two Sons

It began in the Garden when You were seized;
Continued with a crowd that insulted and teased.
A rigged trial where You were ridiculed, condemned;
The whole time You could have had angels descend –
And stop it all from happening, from moving forward.
But You didn’t do that because You are The Lord
The Lord of Light and The Prince of Peace
You make our worry, anxiety, and fear all cease
You were tied to a pillar and savagely scourged;
The sins of humanity were now being purged.
They made a Crown of Thorns pushing it into Your Head;
They mocked You, struck You, laughed at The Living Bread –
Who created the very same men who carried this out
As the crowd grew, “Crucify Him”, they would shout.
So Pilate had You carry Your Cross through the street;
Where you were insulted, cursed by many You did meet.
You fell so the Romans forced Simon to Your side –
To continue the arduous walk to be crucified.
Veronica wiped Your Holy Face with her veil;
From saving us all, Jesus, nothing could curtail.
The Romans drove nails through Your Hands and Feet;
Your mission was still not quite yet complete.
You forgave those who condemned You to The Cross;
You saved us all, even those at a total loss.
Your Dying restored our life, and the hope of Heaven –
Is made possible by Your Glorious Resurrection
