Realize It

How many of us know the new people who sit in the pews on Sunday? How many of us put forth effort to make others feel welcome? Not enough, I'm sure. Maybe that is one reason why the pews are so empty. One way to maybe fill up those pews is to strengthen the bond. And here are a few suggestions on how to do that:
1. Social Activities and Ministries- Every Church has various ministries and maybe even social activities. How many of us introduce ourselves, spread the word about events or go out of our way to talk to new people? How many of us invite others to come?
2. Prayer- It's quite likely that the people around you in church, whether new or not new, have something they are dealing with or are struggling with. Offer to pray for them, or even better with them. Sometimes the smallest action means the most.
3. Being Open- Don't be afraid to greet new people, to introduce yourself. It's likely others will want to come back if they feel accepted and welcomed.
There's more than one way to fill up the pews on Sunday. But trying to strengthen a parish bond through whatever way is best is one of them.
