In Memory

Right now, we're in the midst of Lent; a time to fix what is broken in our lives, in our relationship with God and maybe even with other people. And I got to thinking about something while walking around the other day and seeing cracks. Cracks are broken. They are holes that have not been filled in. And I think in some ways, they are similar to us. We are broken and are trying to become whole. We are waiting for that thing, that person, that answer that is going to make us whole.
Isn't that what this season is for? We are sacrificing, fasting from things that make us broken and trying to be better versions of ourselves. We are trying to better our relationship with God, spend more time with Him so He can take and be the one who fills in those cracks.
Next time you see a crack in something, or even something that is a bit broken, think about Lent. Strive to fill in those cracks. Strive to be whole. Or be that person, that person who helps others fill in their own cracks. Reflect on what it means to be broken and pray to be fixed.
