A boy named Nathan Raun
Today is Good Shepherd Sunday. We recall how the Shepherd tends to His sheep and those each, whom He has created, each one by name. The Shepherd calls out by name and it is important that we listen for our name to be called also. He guides us into the corral where we stand amongst each other, not knowing who is standing by us or even "their" name. But Jesus does. Recognizing each of us. Calling us as we listen to His familiar sweet voice. We are His flock. His sheep. We surely need tending to. If we are not, we follow the others who do not know His voice. Right over that cliff.
The world is ever-changing. Spinning around time that evolves into newness and difference. But there is one thing that will never change. That is our Good Shepherd. The One who has promised to never leave us or let us stray to far from the fold.
With every "bleat" that comes from our very being in need or distress, at that moment of being lost, He hears us. Leaving the 99 to come seek us out. Raising us on His shoulders and carrying us back. Listen for His voice calling, calling out your name. Ready to lead us to safety. Ready to lead us home.
