A sweet flower in the field

     She was a fragile child. Born in poverty, yet accepted this way of life as normal. The taunting of her inadequacy surely hurt her heart, but she remained blissful with every degrading remark. She was born with severe asthma and it was hard for her to keep up. So they didn't ask her to join and play. She was slow to their steadfast steps as they walked so they left her behind. Only this sweet flower stood out before the Throne of God. As He watched her from above, He saw her desire to love Him and our Mother Mary. Oh how that blessed Mother loved her.!  

     Today is the feast day of Saint Bernadette. Not 1, not 10, but 18 apparitions were witnessed by this great Saint from our Blessed Mother who called Herself the Immaculate Conception. Not taken seriously by anyone of these great miracles, this sweet flower from the field, yielded not to their warnings of severe punishment as they threatened her with cruel treatment if she didn't stop going there to The grotto. She would not stop proclaiming that a beautiful lady spoke to her and prayed the rosary with her. 

     Establishing the great Grotto of Lourdes, many thousands of people have been healed and cured of their ills. We would have never known of such a great and miraculous spot as this, if it had not been for her bravery in adversity to the truth so many wanted to deny. 

     Let us call upon this sweet flower of the field today. Ask her to tell our Blessed Mother and Jesus that we love them. Ask her to help us to also become sweet flowers in the Garden in Heaven. Together, sending up a sweet aroma to the throne of God.
