Somewhere a tear will fall
Remembering the Saints keeps us not only hopeful, but humble. Some died of old age, some young. Some from great torture, some naturally. Some had rocky beginnings that turned into conversions. Some were pure of heart from the very beginning of their lives. Bottom line, is that they are so relatable. They are just like you and me. Human beings that all came from the same Creator, God Himself. Molding each of us all from the time we began to breathe, in the time we were born, till the present day. Evolving from the dark ages to modern technology. We're all still here, with our own story. Still trying. Still learning. Will someone read about our great adventures of our faith someday? Will we be remembered as children of God? The Saints lives and story are the best tools of understanding what it means to be faithful, strong and loyal to our Lord. We must teach our children those stories of the Saints and let them hear how to be brave. How to get up after falling. How to have respect for our God. How to get a crown in Heaven, just like the Saints did.
Saint Gemma Galgani, is our Saint today. She was young and beautiful. She experienced severe family losses. She had every reason to give up so many times. Where at just 19, had to care for her siblings, while battling her own physical ailments. She got Spinal Meningitis, and Tuberculosis. Yet, this beloved Saint never gave up. Her parents died when she was so young. So where did she get this faith in God from? It is said that she had daily visits from her Guardian Angel. Then our Lord deemed it fitting to give her the Stigmata. Oh what's suffering! What a great example of surrender! Of trust in God!
Remember always the great Saints! Call upon them often. Teach their stories to your children! They were like us in so many ways. Especially as children of God! They are an infinite supply of friendship and love and teaching and we can become like them, if we ask them to help us.
Oh Holy Saints of Heaven, hear our petitions and prayers as we walk in the light that you have led before us. Saint Gemma Galgani, pray for us.
