The great debate
Sometimes, I tend to live in the past. On the days that are a struggle, my warm blanket tends to comfort me with thoughts of why these struggles are happening. Thankfully, God is teaching me that each new day is just that. It's a new beginning. He proved that on Easter Sunday. When the air was filled with gloom at the realization that this truly was the Son of God. The Pharisees and all the upper officials knew it . People that watched the crucifixion, knew it. They were still living in yesterday and tomorrow. Two days that could not be changed or foreseen. Only in their minds did they try to predict. Only in the stronghold of the evil that was permitted. The evil one wants to keep us there. He doesn't want us to feel Hope. He wants us to get comfortable in our shame and our sorrow. God does not want that for us. If we only believe our past makes us unworthy and who we are then we cannot say that we are truly followers of Christ. If we seek comfort and forgiveness and hope, then all we have to do is look at the empty tomb. The death cloths that laid to the wayside. To the stone that got rolled back.
Joy and Hope rose that day. The past was erased. He rose so that we can rise also. He wants us to rise above our failures and struggles to reach Him. He is not a cruel God. He is Justice and in that Justice, His Mercy overflows along with the great Love that He always has for us.
Living in the past, gets us nowhere. But each new day, brings us closer to God. Believe it. Now, let us go live it.
