The problem with Once Saved, Always Saved
Before we get started, please see my previous article, herel In defense of Red letter Bibles, and, remember, I've writte a book; Elisabeth and the other man (paperback), Elisabeth and the other man (ebook)
So, I had some writer's block, and I was trying to think of a topic to write about. And, I decided, because it ties into this The ugly side of capitalism , I would write about Genesis 3.
Spoiler; as a Christian, my loyalty is to God, not whatever company might have me on their payroll.
But, I'll worry more about that in part 2.
Now, you might feel a sense of Déjà vu.
Rest assured, it's not because you're imagining things. It's because I have, in fact, written about Genesis. (Aliens are not demons part I,Aliens are not demons Part II).
But, I want to hone in on the first part. It's from the King James Version, so, be aware of this.
“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest ye die.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and die eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself. And he said, Who told thee that thou was naked? Has thou eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? (Genesis 3:1-11)
I would type more, but, my hand is hurting. But, let's get this out of the way.
Adam and Eve wanted to be like gods, or, at least Eve did.
Adam listened to Eve.
Adam is still responsible for his own choices.
I laugh uncontrollably when God asks Adam who had told him that he was naked. (It's worth noting, that being naked is not a sin, if it was, we'd bathe fully clothed).
But, with ALL of that said, I want to get into the next part of the chapter next time. It probably won't be my Tuesday article, since, I want more time to write it, but, please, come back here next week, for the exciting adventures of: The fall of mankind!
