A dark cloud that hangs over the heads of some
A Scenario about God; quickly condemning those who ignore compassion:
There are many who cannot wait to see God punish their adversaries even if they themselves are in need of correction. This is a fictional thought that these judges need to read.
Who do you think you are (referring to those he intentionally threw into hell for disobedience) after all the many blessings I placed within your hearts. And now you turned and repented far too often by forgetting my tolerance for you. You deserve the fires awaiting your kind; so into the fires prepared for your kind.
From hell these imposters will ask; “What is the reality of forgiveness if we are placed outside of what you said, “God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good.” (Gn 1: 31).
They then will ask the Lord this purposeful question; “Who is this person that is likened to you, that went to Calvary and claimed; “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do?” (Lk 23: 34). If this is true then there is no time or reason for his Crucifixion since mercy has become a non-entity that is lost for eternity.
Wait, says God! What about the souls who have asked me regarding those whom I sent to hell, at their request? For each one of them who took my place as solemn judge have become worse than those they condemn.
To hell with them as well, and the fire they’ll experience shall be twice the intensity of those they judged. Take a moment and reflect on the two men who went into the temple to pray: One was a Pharisee and the other was a tax-collector. The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, “O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity - greedy, dishonest, and adulterous - or even like this tax-collector. I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.” But the tax-collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, “O God, be merciful to me a sinner.” I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted. (Lk 18: 9 - 14).
The first group, those who were condemned to hell, lost their sense of fairness. However, their accusers who stood as judges have become like Satan; taking my place like Satan as the judge of all humanity. Satan and those who pretend to be like me will be lost forever.
Can we rewind this scenario and allow these judges an opportunity to find the very mercy that they withheld from people just like themselves?
This is what the 40 days of Lent offer to everyone, regardless of their sins. That is why God himself, through Jesus Christ hung on a cross giving both groups in our scenario forgiveness. For those that condemn everyone else, the cross will be their salvation. Do not go to your grave with anger and hatred towards anyone, in your heart. It is a sure way to find eternal death.
It is never too late to find the mercy of Christ who died for you and me. One last truth! God sends no one to hell. That is a self-induced scenario that an avowed sinner that hates God will place themself in hell. It is their choice, alone.
