Fundamentals of Lent and Suggestions
Chuck Norris, iconic action star and conservative writer, has died. Norris has left behind a legacy that spans more than five decades in cinema and faith. He also endorsed a multitude of jokes and punch lines that pointed to his immortality. Yet, on the feast of St. Joseph, God called his beloved martial artist home, surrounded by family.
On his Instagram page released today, it stated that Chuck Norris “ lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives.”
The post continued, “While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived, and for the unforgettable moments we were blessed to share with him. The love and support he received from fans around the world meant so much to him, and our family is truly thankful for it. To him, you were not just fans, you were his friends.”
Born Carlos Ray, who was originally from Ryan, OK, was a skilled martial artist. His parents divorced when he was sixteen years old, and he moved to Kansas with his mom and brothers.
During his time in the Air Force, Norris began training as a martial artist. As he transitioned to civilian life, he opened a chain of karate studios and took part in competitions. He only suffered ten defeats during his martial arts career. In 1968, he won the Middleweight Karate champion title.
By the late 1960s and into the early 200s, Norris starred in many action films thanks to the discovery of Bruce Lee. Norris would be a part of a trilogy of films in the 1980s called Missing in Action. He dedicated the films in memory of his brother, who was killed in Vietnam in 1970 while serving with the 101st Airborne Division.
While Norris is known as a “Hollywood tough guy,” he is defined by how he loved Jesus. He was a Christian who defended the teachings of the church, such as a ban on same sex marriages. He was even an outspoken critic of America’s involvement in the Middle East and warned of the potential attacks in the United States by radical jihadists.
Chuck Norris was 86 years old as his birthday was March 10th.
