I Am That Pharisee

I am That Pharisee

Unfortunately most times I am today’s Gospel’s Pharisee

I am the sinner not the one whose really sorry

Stop talking and boasting

Instead bear all my crosses in silence and begin growing

Learn that it is only in God in whom I must trust

Especially to cure myself of the vices like pride greed and lust

Let my understand l am the boastful Pharisee

Not the lowly tax collector I claim to be

For so blinded am I by my arrogance

That I never ever see my woeful ignorance

I truly am the sinner

I truly am he who is sinister

Please let me learn Lord to live the virtues

To walk only in Your Shoes

So that one day I may be allowed entrance to your reign

Heaven the place of happiness not pain

Amen
