What do you do when you have a fever? You drink plenty of fluids, put a cold wash rag on your forehead or maybe take some medicine. Right? You surely want that fever to go down, so you apply the certain method of prescription.
Is the fever of your Soul from neglect of virtues? Or is it on fire, with the Holy Spirit? Each have their own different remedies.
The fever of our Soul from neglect, can be healed with prayer and surrender. The other can be fed by Holy deeds and the Sacraments. Yes, both indeed, need surrender and trust.
When we see a fire, we douse it with plenty of water. So like the saving Waters of Baptism, we have cleansed our Souls from original sin. When the temperature rises from sin, we use Confession to put out those flames.
There is always a medicine to get the temperature back to a normal, functioning state. Sickness of Soul is just as important a calamity that should be diagnosed with proper care. Only Jesus and His beloved family of Mary our Mother and the sweet Angels and Saints of Heaven, can be our doctors. The ones who prescribe our medicines and direct us to our cure. They will guide our minds and souls through our difficulties, trials and yes, our sickness.
