The Fifth Commandment Part 1
Devotion to the Scared Heart of Jesus – Part 2
Submitted by Thomas Stidl
In part 1, I alerted all readers to the promises made by Jesus to Saint Margaret Mary for devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In part 2, I will share prayers that I learned throughout my life. Prayer 1 is as follows:
“O Most Holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure, and totally obedient to your will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you. Protect me in the midst of danger, comfort me in my afflictions, give me health of mind and body, help me in all my earthly needs, grant Your gracious blessings on all that I accomplish, and give me the grace of a very holy death. Amen.”
Prayer 2 is as follows: “Sacred Heart of Jesus, let me come to you in every need with humble trust. Sacred Heart of Jesus, let me bring to you all my doubts, temptations, and spiritual queries. Let me come to you when I am lonely, tired, disappointed, full of sorrow, when all my efforts have failed, and impatient. Please let me come to you when I am ill, weak of both body and mind, and when I have fallen. Please lift me and shower me with your abiding presence in my soul, and never leave me. Amen.”
Prayer 3 is a version of a prayer that I recite before receiving Holy Communion. It is as follows: “Lord Jesus, I come before you, just as I am. I am sorry for my sins. Please forgive me. In Your Holy Name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits, and all their works. Amen.”
Prayer 4 is a prayer that is billed as one that never fails. “O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I have asked You for many favors, and now I ask for this one. Take it and place it in your own broken heart, and when Our Heavenly Father sees it, He will not refuse it. It is now not my prayer, but thy prayer of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You. Amen.”
Please keep these prayers in mind throughout your entire life.
Until next time, Laus Tibi, Christe. Laus Deo. Deo Gratias. See you in
Paradise. Amen.
