With Mary Will Begin Again This Lent!
Every year, as Lent approaches, we feel it.
The urgency.
The pressure.
The internal checklist forming in our minds.
What am I giving up?
What book should I read?
Should I fast from sugar? Social media? Coffee?
Without realizing it, we often rush ahead of grace.
But the Church, in her wisdom, gives us something beautiful before Lent begins: space.
A few quiet days to prepare our hearts.
And no one teaches us how to prepare like Our Lady.
The Hidden School of Nazareth
Before the Cross, before the Resurrection, before the public ministry of Christ — there was hiddenness.
Mary lived most of her life unseen.
She did not rush into heroic acts.
She did not build dramatic plans.
She received, pondered, and responded in fidelity.
In the Gospel of the Annunciation, she pauses before she answers the angel. She asks a question. She listens deeply. And then she surrenders:
“Let it be done to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38)
Lent should begin the same way.
Not with intensity.
But with listening.
Pre-Lent: A Time for Honest Reflection
Before we choose sacrifices, we should first ask:
Where is my life out of balance?
Where am I spiritually dry?
Where am I physically depleted?
Where do I lack peace?
Too often, we separate holiness from wellness — as if our spiritual life exists apart from our bodies and daily rhythms.
But we are not divided beings. We are body and soul.
If we are exhausted, distracted, and scattered, our prayer suffers.
If our prayer is weak, our discipline falters.
Preparation for Lent means gently examining both.
Before Ash Wednesday arrives, consider choosing:
One habit for holiness.
Perhaps a daily Rosary. Ten minutes of silent prayer. Scripture reading.
One habit for stewardship of your body.
A daily walk. More intentional nourishment. Earlier sleep.
One habit for interior peace.
Limiting social media. Practicing gratitude. Protecting silence.
Lent is not about becoming extreme. It is about becoming faithful. Mary did not overwhelm herself. She remained steady.
The Grace of Beginning Again
The truth is, we will stumble.
We will miss a prayer.
We will break a fast.
We will lose focus.
But Lent is not about perfection. It is about learning to begin again — without shame.
And this is perhaps Mary’s greatest lesson. She stood at the Cross in faith, even when she did not understand everything. She remained.
Steady.
Faithful.
Open.
Pre-Lent is an invitation to ask for that same steadiness.
A Gentle Invitation
If your heart is longing for structure, support, and sisterhood this Lent, we want to invite you to join us for Begin Again: A Marian Lenten Challenge.
For 40 days, we will gently create a Rosary-centered rhythm of prayer, nourishment, movement, and surrender — building what we call a Rosary Rule of Life.
Not a diet.
Not a self-improvement plan.
But a way of living daily life with Mary as our guide.
Together we will:
Root our days in the Rosary
Practice simple, sustainable habits
Unite body and soul in stewardship
Gather weekly for encouragement and accountability
Learn how to begin again — every single time
Before Lent begins, sit with Mary.
Pause.
Listen.
And if you feel the nudge toward deeper rhythm and steadier faith — come walk with us.
Let us begin quietly.
Let us begin intentionally.
Let us begin again.
