The Peace of winter
When we say the words before Communion, "Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed"', close your eyes and direct this sentiment to the Throne of God. He is the healer. At His word, all things come to be. With true contrition, we can receive Him into our hearts with confidence that He has purified His dwelling place within us.
His word is law. His judgments are true. It is redemption. It is healing and mercy. Such an important encounter must have purification and true contrition. It is His gift to us that He so longs to give to us. We know we are not worthy of such "gold" but He thinks we are, therefore, making that dwelling place inside of our hearts a sweet home for Him to rest.
Saying to Him, admitting that we are not worthy, joins His sufferings with ours. Our joys become His. Healing His wounds and binding up ours with healing salve.
Receiving Him in the form of the Sacred Host delights Him and in return, He so delights us. The cleansing of the home of our hearts, lets Him rest in peace and joy. Content. Choosing to have Him reside in such turbulence and letting Him take the chaos of our sins and washing us clean by His presence, we are redeemed once again.
The Graces that flow from a pure Communion received, are immeasurable. They give us light and strength to fight our battles with darkness and renews us with assurance that we are never ever alone.
Speak to God directly when saying the words,"Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed." He is listening and waiting for the purity of the request and is delighted in granting our asking, as a good Father to His child.
