Anger and Resentment
OUR SAVING GRACE, How to Obtain It
Eileen Renders
I believe we are all aware that by God’s grace alone, we are saved, spared the desperation, isolation, and depression of being separated from those we loved who were judged and sent to their just punishment because they were without the grace of God.
What then is the grace of God? How do we obtain it, and why are many living and dying without the grace of God?
The grace of God is given to us when we go to God in prayer, are sincere in our love for Him, and follow His Commandments. We are not entitled to spend eternity in heaven with Christ just because we want to. When we want something that we do not deserve, we must work towards that goal!
The above answer also answers the second question of “Why are many living and dying without the grace of God?”
We all must live as our Creator intended, which requires us to use the free will we were given to make choices based upon what is right or wrong, good or bad. This may sound like an easy enough accomplishment; however, that being a true statement, we would all be meeting in heaven one day without exception. Unfortunately, we realize that is not true.
Again, this question deserves an answer, a reason why this is not what we can all expect at the end of our days.
Perhaps, some of us will go to Church only because we realize it is expected. How many might go to the sacrament of Reconciliation without actually being sorry for our sins as hurting God, or without intending to work at not sinning again? Do we go to Holy Communion without acknowledging that we truly just received the body and blood of Christ? Could any of us commit the sacrilege of taking Holy Communion with sin on our souls, without having given a thought to going to Confession? Do we go to Confession knowing we live with a partner intimately but are not married? Do some who are unmarried lie down, as God has forbidden us, with a same sex partner? Knowing that Marriage is a sacrament and that it promises to bear fruit (children that God may send).
Are we harboring impure thoughts, erroneously believing it is not a sin? This is why each new day requires us to do a mental examination of conscience. Each evening should end with a rosary, or some form of prayer asking God to protect us from Satan, and strengthen our will to make our decisions based on what we believe God would do while keeping His Commandments close to our hearts.
That is how and when God is pleased to gift us with His graces and blessings, including many of the following: peace, wisdom, joy, tolerance, protection, understanding, And How to Obtain It, and more.
