Your Excellency Archbishop Perez,
As per an announcement in my parish bulletin this past Sunday:
The Catholic Church of Philadelphia is not defined by its structures, but by its greatest treasure – it’s people. To plan its future, the Archdiocese is working with the Steier Group, a national Catholic fundraising firm, to conduct a campaign planning study....YOUR VOICE MATTERS! Impact our future by taking our survey at: https://forms.office.com/r/9fcs95U5B4
The survey asked for the name, address, phone numbers, and email address of my wife and myself. It also asked
- how informed I was of Archbishop Perez's plans for his "bold vision"
- how I would prioritize "missionary hubs," "Planting Missionaries and Development Directors at Schools," and "forming and supporting priests"
- my thoughts on the archdiocese returning 20% of funds [To be honest, these sort of notions remind me of "pyramid schemes."]
- names of others to help
- my own willingness to solicit pledges
- my consideration of the archdiocese in a hypothetical will, estate planning, etc.
- specific amount of my hypothetical gift.
- other thoughts
Your Excellency, have you considered "Questions for Archbishop Nelson Perez" (
Catholics4Change, 1/18/26)? While I do NOT agree with all its questions, I very much think that you need to be more forthcoming with your people.
It very much appears to me that "Catholic" hospitals and colleges in the archdiocese are operating free of authentic Catholic direction. Do you have any plan to reign them in?
