Lent Is Coming; Are You Ready for Some Sacrifices?
As pro-lifers go back home from a cold day on the National Mall to their peaceful walk up Capitol Hill, they leave with an invigorated spirit to do more for the unborn child. Yet, for some, it was just another thing to check out their list for the year. It’s not. Being pro-life requires us to be committed every day.
Indeed, we can claim that we’re prolife every January, but what about the other eleven months of the year? This was something I had to remind myself of when I was starting out in the pro-life movement in my early 20s. For anyone reading this, I sure hope it helps you to be committed to the cause of life daily.
Recently, I came across a video of a pro-life colleague who had a message for the once-a-year pro-lifers. Currently, he is a student at Liberty University, yet, for a junior at this highly regarded Christian school, he knows that more must be done.
“People are being murdered every day. Babies are being starved, suctioned, dismembered, and poisoned to death. Abortion is claiming hundreds of thousands of innocent lives. We have to get active in our local communities.”
We will soon approach the fourth anniversary of the Dobbs Decision that changed the trajectory of history. Unfortunately, abortions are still happening across the United States and even abroad.
To make matters worse, the pro-abortion lobby is not stopping with their attempts to radicalize abortion on a state level and even duping voters to vote for measures that are abortion in disguise.
In recent years in Philadelphia, I have even seen an organized group of paid agitators standing outside of abortion facilities mocking us, and most likely figured out the usual people who come out and pray.
These “agitators” who are mainly would play loud music, try to get us off rhythm, yelling and blurting out events happening, and claiming that “we’re not Christian”. I couldn’t help but think about why they never grew past kindergarten, or how liberal indoctrination has failed them during their time of growing up.
We must march every day for millennials and Gen Z, who lost a third of their generation to the holocaust and the No.1 cause of death in the United States. We must march for moms who regret playing God by choosing death for their child and are carrying the scourging wound for a lifetime. We march for men who need to be reminded that they are needed in the movement to change hearts and minds while also “manning up”. We march for advocates who went through toil, trial, and triumph in the babies they saved or tried to save through their courageous witness, as many are aging and will be leaving this life to stand before Christ in giving an account of what was done during their lives.
The point is that we must be pro-life every day. The March for Life is just one day, but we must march every day for the unborn Americans in our country. God will judge us for how we treated the least among us, the unborn child. Yes, we must love our neighbor. The unborn child and pregnant mother struggling to give the child life are our neighbors as well.
Pro-lifers can get involved in many ways. We have talents God has given to us, and they must be used for his glory. Whether it’s writing, speech, knowledge of medicine, law, or even tech, the message of life must be shared today.
Ask yourself one question: “What can I do for the pro-life movement today?”
Side note: Men, I wrote a reflection that I hope will encourage you to be more involved.
