How To WIN OVER SIN
How Our Spirit Can Be Described, And When It Becomes Strong
Eileen Renders
When we think of the Holy Spirit, the Bible describes the Holy Spirit as having a will. The Holy Spirit is part of the three persons in one God. The Holy Spirit works with God’s will to teach and inspire us to align our spirit with the will of God. The Holy Spirit (if you will) whispers to us with assistance in making good decisions.
(1 Cor. 12:11) All spiritual gifts come from “the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.:
Our Catholic life requires us to walk with the Holy Spirit, and this requires us to relinquish things of the “flesh” as the flesh is weak, but those who live by the will of God create a strong will. Matthew 26:41
Stay and pray that you may not enter into temptation, the spirit is willing, the flesh is weak.
Our body, soul, and spirit are integrated.
What we can learn from God through teachings in our Bible is that our Spirit is as strong as only God has the power to strengthen it. And God strengthens our spirit through our effort and determination to follow Christ, and remain in a state of grace (without sin).
What do we understand regarding a Strong Spirit and its benefits?
According to the Catholic Bible and tradition, a strong spirit, often understood as being “strong in spirit” or possessed with the gift of fortitude, means having a soul deeply anchored in God’s power, rather than relying on human strength. It is an inner, supernatural resilience that enables believers to remain faithful to God’s will, despite trials, temptations, or adversity.
