The Great Love Story
Oh! How I love Bishop Fulton Sheen. I could listen to him and his stories forever. He lived a life of pure adventure. Gathering along the way, knowledge that is more valuable than all the gold in the world. He speaks from experience. From the Grace of God he is enlightened to lead others to Jesus. That's the best way to speak. I've noticed that everywhere he went, people didn't want him to quit talking. They were intrigued. Listening, like the people on the Mount when they were listening to Jesus. They were also intrigued. Getting filled with what was missing or lost in their lives. Hearing answers of how to fill that void they carried in their hearts. That is what Bishop Fulton Sheen did. His talks were alive with Christ. People who encountered him walked away renewed. Just like they did when Jesus spoke.
Bishop Fulton Sheen talked many times on "emptying yourself" of everything. Never looking away from the Face of God. It's true. The moment we let self, money, or any other thing block our vision of God, we lose our purpose. The purpose being, "emptying out ourselves". So many examples of this are related in the Bible as instruction to the fate of keeping ourselves, our possessions preserved with any other intention than to lose it.
Give. Give. Give. Never stop giving. God has promised to give us everything we need. But there is a catch. We must rely "completely" on He who is the "greatest giver". When we keep our talents, our money, our knowledge under a basket, how can that produce anything. It cannot. It's only when we scatter what was given to us freely that the worth becomes a light. It multiplies. Far beyond anything we could have every imagined.
We must not lose sight of our true purpose for our creation. Whether it be a mother, a father, a businessman, an electrician, a plumber, a priest, or religious. Our purpose is to give and keep giving. To walk that extra mile, never leaving the sight of God's Face in all and everyone we meet.
Empty out yourself completely and the strength that you will receive will be revived beyond measure. God is the "great giver". So let us imitate Him in our desire to give Him back what we have so generously received.
