The Body of Christ is Looking Out for You
Today in the Mass Readings, we hear two important messages to Jesus from God:
You are my Beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.
I have called you for the victory of justice.
Jesus is God’s Beloved Son, whom he loves, cherishes, and sends to earth to bring forth justice for the oppressed.
As the baptized, we too are God’s Beloved Children, whom he loves, cherishes, and sends to earth to bring forth justice for the oppressed. Why? Because we are called to walk in Jesus’ footsteps as disciples.
Jesus did not live in a time where justice flourished, and neither do we. We take one step forward on abortion and justice for the unborn, and two steps back on immigration and justice for the poor. Our Church leadership is making it clear that this is not OK. The dignity of every person must be upheld.
In this new year, I am considering ways in which I can better live out my call to bring forth justice as a Beloved daughter of God.
Might you consider the same?
