In the beginning, with God was the Word,
Light pouring out to establish our race.
All of creation was spoken in love,
Man with dominion and fashioned with grace.
We who had fallen and suffered from sin,
Seeking redemption, so lost and alone.
Into our world came the Savior of souls,
God in our form who had once held a throne.
Light of the world now descends from above,
Pure sacred sign in the flesh for the age.
Savior fulfilling the prophecies old,
Covenant over, now turning the page.
Word became flesh, God became man,
Dwelt among sinners, God’s perfect plan.
Light in our darkness, witness of love,
Savior’s creation, Kingdom above.

Coming in time but existing before,
Shedding his blood for our sorrowful race.

Bearing our burdens, our heavenly sign,
God in the flesh, holy human, divine.
Power to men to be children of God,
Born not of blood, but with Spirit now one,
Mercy and grace to the fallen in need,
Glory beholding in God’s only Son.
Word from the Father now dwelling in time,
